Back on LinkedIn

With a long-term project winding down recently, I’ve been reflecting on some of the takeaways from that engagement. I hadn’t been looking for such a large or long-term project but it turns out I really enjoyed that level of collaboration.

It was great to work closely with the Secure Practice team over a sustained period and get into the details. We redesigned their web apps, created their first design system (a Figma UI kit with Storybook as the source of truth), and got into lots of gnarly UX and accessibility issues. These are muscles that don’t always get flexed on smaller projects

The big revelation for me is that I’d love to do something similar if the opportunity arose. I’m not sure exactly what that looks like right now – it could be design system related or simply a longer collab with an agency or organisation – but the range of options I’m considering has never been broader.

I’ve written previously about how I’ve been running a network-based business that’s social-media free. That’s been perfect for me for smaller projects like marketing sites, but I think I need to expand my net for longer-term and bigger projects.

With that in mind, I’ve rejoined LinkedIn.

LinkedIn was the last social network I left, and I’d always thought that was the only platform I might rejoin from a work perspective. And here we are.
